Computer Evolution and Performance

ENIAC
  • ENIAC: Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer.
  • Designed by: Eckert and Mauchly at the University of Pennsylvania.
  • Electronic digital computer to the needs of the public first in the world.
  • Institutions created under the Army's Ballistics Research Laboratory (BRL).
  • A body that is responsible in making the distance and trajectory guided missile table.
  • Previous work has been carried out by approximately 200 personnel to use a calculator to solve mathematical equation guided missile that takes a long time.
  • Began in 1943 and finished 1946.
  • Too late for the war effort.
  • Used until 1955.

ENIAC
  • Is a decimal machine (not binary).
  • Memory consists of 20 accumulator.
  • Each accumulator accommodate 10 digits decimal.
  • Programmed manually set the switch.

ENIAC
  • Weight: 30 tons.
  • Volume: 15.000 square meters.
  • Contains more than 18.000 vacuum tube.
